CHICK

FAIRBANKS, ALASKA IS MY HOME!! I HAVE LIVED HERE FOR 36 YEARS AND HAVE SEEN MANY CHANGES STARTING WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TRANS ALASKA PIPELINE.  FAIRBANKS  WAS A  FRONTIER TOWN  36 YEARS AGO.

IF YOU WANT TO BUY OR SELL IN FAIRBANKS OR NORTH POLE LOOK YOU NEED LOOK NO WHERE ELSE.

I am a farm "boy" at heart. I grew up on a farm in Texas. I graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Animal Husbandry. I then taught school for a year, worked in the insurance business for a year and then went back to school for a graduate degree.

In my senior year at Texas Tech, I met and married the Love of My Life, Carolyne, who has stood by me for 51 years. We have five wonderful children - four of them married - and eight grandchildren. Two of the children live in Fairbanks, one in Healy, Alaska; and two in Minneapolis.

I came to University of Alaska in 1972 to run the custodial department. . In 1987 I left the University and became a Realtor just in time to suffer through a great "down market" in 1987-90.

I have achieved great success in the business by being interested in people and assisting them in achieving their goals in real estate. In 1996 my son, Cullen, came to work with me as my assistant. This has been a personally rewarding experience for me.

I am very active in military affairs as they are an integral part of this community. I am the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, an extremely rewarding experience as I get to MEET THE GREATEST GENERATION-TODAY'S YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVE OUR COUNTRY.  I also serve on the 11th Air Force Civilian Advisory Board and the State of Alaska Military Affairs Committee. In addition, I am an active member of Rotary, the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the College of Fellows, University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

In 1999 my wife and I bought a new condominium. We have room to entertain and we entertain a lot. It is not unusual for us to have a crowd for dinner.

I enjoy the people that I meet and make friendships with them as I assist them in achieving their Fairbanks real estate goals.

CULLEN

I LOVE FAIRBANKS, ALASKA - THERE IS NO BETTER PLACE TO LIVE!!

My earliest memory is living in Colorado, across the street from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. In 1972 Dad announced we were moving to Alaska. The family traveled to Alaska in July.

My older brother and I wanted to play ice hockey that first winter. There was no one to coach, so my Dad agreed to coach although he could not skate and had never coached hockey. For two years he was my coach and we played outside on outdoor rinks. I developed a love for the game that continued through high school.

I attended the University of Alaska and received a degree in Economics. I started coaching youth hockey about this time myself. I have been a coach in the local high schools off and on for at least 20 years. I have also coached in the local youth programs for various aged young people. I  am currently President for the Alaska State Hockey Association, having previously served as Vice President. The real joy in coaching is that I get to be a positive influence in a young person's life. My philosophy about coaching has always been that I will teach your child a little about hockey and a lot about life!

I started in the real estate business about 12 years ago, working for my dad as his assistant. There was some reluctance on my part to go to work with my dad, because we had a great relationship prior to working together, and I didn't want to risk spoiling it with the stress of business. However, our relationship has never been better than it is today.

I also enjoy reading, traveling, gourmet cooking, fly fishing, and I have become a golf fanatic.

ROD

I was reared on a farm in South Dakota. I attended Colorado State University where I earned a degree in Forestry. I decided to serve my country by becoming a Naval Officer. When I finished my naval service, a good friend from South Dakota had migrated to Fairbanks and said I should come and join him. My two brothers and my sister soon followed. Not too long after that my mother and father came north to join us. I was married to my loving wife Sylvia and together we raised two children, Angie and Dan.

In 1973 I became a real estate agent for a long time Fairbanks Broker, Bud Meyers. In 1980 I moved to Coldwell Banker Great Land Realty having become an associate broker along the way. In May of 2003 I joined the present firm, Wallace, Wallace & Wakefield. I have devoted most of my real estate practice to residential and land sales.

I love the outdoors in Alaska especially the hunting and fishing. It has been a great place to live and to raise a family
